As part of a globally connected network, MPAs help safeguard marine resources while ensuring the continued supply of essential ecosystem services. Effects of MPAs can be seen not just in the areas themselves, but also surrounding areas, as marine life \u201cspills\u201d over the boarders of the MPA increasing biodiversity and biomass in the areas around it.
